The collaboration with the UK based Furnace Brooks Farm and Fisheries is centered on Bioremediation and the renewal of water bodies. An unfortunate pollution episode released unknown substances into the upper creek leading to the fisheries lake, resulting in the near immediate die off of thousands of fish, ells, and other wildlife that called the natural system its home. These pollutants included: Arsenic, barium, cyanide, cobalt, chromium, copper, iron, zinc, manganese, nickel, selenium, vanadium, TPH C10-C40, lethal levels of ammonia, aromatic C21-C40, resulting in a very acidic pH and high particulate matter.

Working with NBS Nature Based Solutions, this project implements multiple bioremediation techniques. Bioremediation is the use of biological functions to remove pollutants and remediate an area. In this project we partner with plants (phytoremediation), mushrooms/fungus (mycoremediation), bacteria (bioremediation) animals (zooremediation), and rocks (georemediation). Some of the installations that are utilized on site are: bioswales and berms, diversion trenches, floating wetlands, biochar booms, white rot fungus inoculation, and zooremediation for bioturbation.
