Community Events

We find it to be evident that to engage with our ecosystems means that we engage with the communities that comprise these ecosystems, from human communities to bacterial communities. Within the eco-centric worldview that we operate from, there is no separation between the intricate interdependence of all species for the aim of creating a world and society that we want to live in that respects planetary boundaries, together.

Our work comes from the joining of practical experience and dedicated study which we want to share as much as possible. Sometimes its just remembering what plants like to grow next to other plants, other times its learning how to take water samples, hold a pickaxe, or isolate the olfactory triggers of hummic rich soils.

We like to say, 'Learned in Play, always stays.' Knowledge that we share with one another in laughter and play tends to stick in ones memory easier then information learned in rote. One of the central tenants of our values is to recognize diverse forms of intelligence, neurodivergence, and multiplicities in ways to learn. With that said, we do host periodic community events focused on learning, playing, and actively engaging in the work that needs to be done to care for our planet.

Forage Forest to Table

Much of what we grow not only benefits the diets of our wildlife, but also benefits the diets of the wild and feral within us. This summer we participated in a little forage forest to table moment from regenerative syntropic ecosystem restoration projects (by ERAS) in partnership with the forever environmental art and music riot curator @skytavpro and amazing fungi-inspired mycelial-delighted chef Michelle of @Just Mushrooms to raise funds and awareness for @Gather-Make-Shelter, a Portland non-profit organizing to support and empower houseless members in our community through art programs.

Portland, OR

Earth Day Group Pic.jpg

The 2025 Earth Day event was held at Portland's Historic Skyline Tavern site, and home of an Arts- Music- Ecology revitalization project of Scott Ray Becker of Black Dog. This multi-generational collaborative community event brought together neighbors and strangers to learn and enjoy restoration ecology while welcoming in the summer through arts, music, herbalisim, and of course, environmental workshops.

The Watershed Tour guided groups through long and short-term projects being completed on-site through a series of engaging workshops including biophilic art installations, invasive species removal, willow weaving, keyline design, native plant installations, and stormwater mitigation.
